How Do You Score Deer Antlers

The question often comes up, “How do you score deer antlers?”  And for good reason, while it’s easy to look at a buck and guess it’s class, you’re often surprised when the final score comes together.  So just how do you score deer antlers then?  See below:

You’ll want to count the number of “points” that are located on each antler.

Measure the distance from the tip of each main beam.

Measure the greatest spread from the center point of the skull.

Measure the inside spread of the main beam.

Determine the total length of all points, both normal and abnormal.

Know the length of the main beam.

Measure all the circumferences.
